Dentist

PURPOSE OF JOB:

This purpose of this position is to provide quality dental care to Sunset patients.  This includes preventive therapy activities and clinical treatment of all ages of patients either in a clinic setting or the mobile dental van.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ø  Duties: Provision of services within the Standards of Practice as set forth in the American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines for the practice of dentistry.  

Ø  Responsible for accurate and confidential records in EDR.

Ø  Responsible for accurate intra oral digital radiographs in patient’s records.

Ø  Conduct complete examination to dental patients.

Ø  Prepare cavity and fill both primary and permanent teeth.

Ø  Remove calculus deposits and stain from surfaces of the teeth.

Ø  Extract non-restorable teeth

Ø  Apply fluoride treatments to patient’s teeth.

Ø  Root canal therapy.

Ø  Gingival curettage, scaling and root planning and prophylaxis.

Ø  Perform minor surgeries.

Ø  Prepare and cement fixed prostheses.

Ø  Prepare and deliver removable prostheses.

Ø  Work in the outreach setting without supervision.

Ø  Supervise dental assistant or hygiene students while working in the clinic and field

Ø  setting.

Ø  Responsible for proper mixing of impression materials for taking impressions.

Ø  Responsible for accurately poured and trimmed model.

Ø  Responsible for diagnosis, treatment plan and case design for patients requiring

Ø  Prosthetic.

Ø  Responsible for preparation of dentition for removable partial frameworks and fixed

Ø  Administer local anesthetic effectively

Ø  Prostheses.

 

SUPERVISION:

        Supervise and assist in the training of office dental assistants.

       

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

·         Must be able to obtain a fingerprint clearance card. If not already obtained,  Fingerprint Clearance card application must be submitted within 5 business days of employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Ø  Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association.
